The Videos of TOGETHER WE SAVE LIVES
Three videos. Three questions. One message: Promises must become action.
At the heart of TOGETHER WE SAVE LIVES are three campaign videos featuring community activists and advocates from around the world. The videos will be released over the course of the campaign. The first video is now available, with Videos 2 and 3 to follow in the coming months. Together, they explore what it takes to turn political promises and financial commitments into reliable support that saves lives.
The three videos follow the journey from a promise to its impact. They ask what global solidarity means when people and communities depend on international support, what political leadership is needed to ensure that announced commitments are actually delivered, and why stable and predictable financing is essential for lifesaving programs.
Through the voices of people working in and with communities affected by HIV, tuberculosis and malaria, the videos connect decisions made by governments with what those decisions mean in practice: uninterrupted treatment, timely diagnosis, prevention, community-led services and the ability to continue providing care even in times of crisis.
Because financial commitments are not simply numbers in a budget. Their impact depends on what happens next.
Video 1: What does global solidarity mean? What is the impact of promises?
Global solidarity starts with a promise – but a promise alone is not enough. Our first video looks at what financial commitments can make possible when they are delivered in full and on time: treatment continues, prevention reaches people, communities can provide essential services and health systems are better prepared to withstand crises.
Promises must be delivered. Promises should not be broken.
Video 2: What is political leadership, and how does it influence the fulfillment of promises?
Making a public commitment is one thing. Ensuring that it is fulfilled is another. Our second video focuses on political leadership and accountability: the responsibility to turn announced contributions into predictable and sustained financing that countries and communities can actually plan with.
When funding is reliable, treatment continues, prevention continues and communities are protected.
Video 3: What is required to ensure the stability of lifesaving programs?
For communities, funding stability is not an abstract financial question. It determines whether medicines are available, health workers can plan, community organizations can continue their work and people can access the services they need.
Our third video looks at what it takes to protect lifesaving programs over the long term and why every delayed, reduced or undelivered contribution can have a human cost.
Together, support becomes stability. Together, stability saves lives.
