Video Statement
Community Voices - the fight against HIV, TB and malaria is not over

Together with activists from international civil society, we used the Global Fund Advocates Network (GFAN) meeting on 11 October in Berlin to record a joint video statement expressing our dissatisfaction with the approximately 23% reduction in funding for the Global Fund. On 21 November, shortly before the G20 meeting in Johannesburg, the final event of the Replenishment process took place. Through the video, we reminded the governments participating in the G20 of their responsibility to honour previously made commitments and not to arrive in Johannesburg empty-handed. There was still time to reverse the funding cuts to the Global Fund. We would like to thank our colleagues from the GFAN network and the Ukrainian Public Health Alliance for their support in implementing this project.
Transcript:
The Global Fund has saved 70 million lives.
We thank Germany, for the long-standing commitment.
However, the announced pledge is lower than before.
Around the world, support from donors is declining.
But the fight against AIDS, TB and malaria is not over!
The G20 is coming up: there’s still time to increase contributions and fill the gap.
We call on Germany and all governments to fully fund the Global Fund.
Together we must stop at nothing to finish the fight.
Together we save lives.
Together we will win.
