The Health-Related Millennium Development Goals – Still not a Success Story?

Category: Aktionsbündnis

This year’s Action for Global Health Germany conference is organised by Welthungerhilfe, terre des hommes and the German Foundation for World Population (DSW) as German partners of Action for Global Health, in cooperation with action medeor, Action Against AIDS Germany, German Church Development Service (EED) and Oxfam Germany.

The Health-Related Millennium Development Goals – Still not a Success Story?

Germany’s contributions towards the achievement of the health-related development goals will be the topic of the first day. A dialogue between government representatives, members of parliament and civil society will help take stock of the first 150 days both of the new government and in particular of the new leadership of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.

At the same time this conference is an opportunity to discuss strategies for the future. We are particularly interested in which priorities the new government is going to set in the field of global health in order to contribute to the realisation of the health-related Millennium Development Goals.

On the second day (March 16th) a discussion forum with workshops will put the focus on the global health policy of the European Union. Central EU documents which are currently being drafted and will be accessible on the AfGH homepage prior to the conference
will be discussed; the purpose of the day is to identify opportunities for German civil society organisations to advocate at the EU level.

The languages of the conference are English and German.
